Intermediate Project Designer / Engineer

m3 mechanical consultants inc. is looking for an Intermediate Project Designer or Project Engineer to join our Victoria, BC, office. We provide Mechanical Engineering Consulting Services throughout British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. Our diverse project experience varies from small to large scale projects that include Healthcare, Educational, Municipal, Government, Commercial, Light Industrial, and Multi-unit Residential facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Shall report directly to a Senior Project Manager or Principal of the Company.

  • Working in a collaborative team environment.

  • Working on a wide variety of project assignments related to the mechanical buildings field, including but not limited to:

    • Fire Suppression (Division 21)

    • Plumbing Systems (Division 22)

    • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems (Division 23)

    • Mechanical Controls (Division 25)

    • Energy use analysis

    • Building Condition Assessments

    • Construction Administration Field Services

  • Production and development of detailed Engineering Drawings.

  • Coordination of systems and equipment with other disciplines, sub-consultants, and utility providers.

  • Prepare reports, studies, models, and other project related documentation for review by the project Engineer of Record.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary Education Certificate and/or Diploma in Drafting (Designer)

  • Technical College Diploma in Engineering Technology (Designer)

  • Membership, or eligibility for membership, with ASTTBC (Designer)

  • University Degree in (Mechanical) Engineering (Engineer)

  • Membership, or eligibility for membership with EGBC as an E.I.T. or P.Eng. (Engineer)

  • 2 to 8 years of experience in Building Systems Engineering, including, but not limited to Fire Suppression, Plumbing Systems, HVAC Systems, and Controls.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the following software systems:

    • Microsoft Office (Specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel)

    • Autodesk AutoCAD

    • Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam REVU

  • Working knowledge of the following software systems will be considered an asset:

    • Carrier’s Hourly Analysis Program or Trane’s Trace Program

    • Autodesk REVIT

    • SPRINK Hydraulic Calculation Software or FIRE by Elitesoft

Senior Project Designer

  • Prepare reports, studies, models, and other project related documentation for review by the project Engineer of Record.

 

Qualifications:

  • Technical College Diploma in Engineering Technology

  • Membership, or eligibility for membership, with ASTTBC

  • 8+ years of experience in Building Systems Engineering, including, but not limited to Fire Suppression, Plumbing Systems, HVAC Systems, and Controls.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the following software systems:

    • Microsoft Office (Specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel)

    • Autodesk AutoCAD

Office Manager / Bookkeeper

m3 mechanical consultants inc. is looking for an Office Manager/bookkeeper (OM) to join our Victoria, BC, office. We provide Mechanical Engineering Consulting Services throughout British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. Our diverse project experience varies from small to large scale projects that include Healthcare, Educational, Municipal, Government, Commercial, Light Industrial, and Multi-unit Residential facilities.

 

The current position is for part time, estimated 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow to full time as the organization grows. Flexibility to work from home (WFH) for a percentage of the work hours may be coordinated.

Responsibilities:

  • Shall report directly to a Principal of the Company.

The duties of the Office Manager (OM) shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • At all times to uphold the values of the company and to act in all good faith to represent the culture and objectives of the company.

  • The OM shall be responsible for assuring safe working conditions always including staying aware of government regulations identified by Work Safe BC making sure that all employees are aware of minimum safety standards and generally communicating a safety-first attitude to everything.

  • The OM is responsible for managing all day-to-day office and financial operations.

  • Project Setup and record keeping

The OM is responsible for managing Financial and Record keeping which includes:

  • Day-to-day financial management

  • Overseeing client accounts including invoicing and processing payments.

  • Assist in monthly reconciliation of accounts and budgets and preparing monthly reports.

  • Assist in bookkeeping data entry, management, and filing.

  • Bank deposits and payables including government remittances.

The OM is responsible for managing Human Resources which includes:

  • Bi-weekly payroll administration

  • Maintaining employee records and personnel files

  • Identifying, establishing, and upholding health and safety standards

The OM is responsible for managing communications which includes:

  • Process incoming and outgoing phone calls, letters, emails, and documents

  • Maintain software subscriptions, licensing, and IT support, and equipment lists.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of operations functions

  • Able to multitask and meet challenges directly

  • Must have prior bookkeeping, account management, and budgeting experience

  • Must have prior payroll administration, human resources experience

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the following software systems:

    • Microsoft Office (Specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel)

    • Microsoft Teams

    • Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam REVU

    • QuickBooks Online
